We provide you with all of your river rafting equipment. This includes wetsuits, booties, splash tops, fleeces, helmets, life jackets, self-bailing rafts and paddles. We provide transportation to and from the Toby Creek and our buses are driven by professional class 4 licensed drivers.
All you need to bring is a swimsuit and and a towel. Optional items that may get wet and lost in the river are sunglasses, waterproof camera.
You should be comfortable around water but dont need to be an expert swimmer to go rafting with Glacier Raft Adventures. We use top quality life jackets that are very buoyant and will keep you floating.
We run rain or shine. Rafting is the best thing to do on a rainy day - you are going to get wet anyway!
There is always a possibility of falling out while rafting. The Toby Creek is a friendly river and it is unlikely that will happen. We have ropes down the center and around the raft to hold on to, and the rafting guides will tell you when you need to hold on. Our safety briefing will fill you in on proper techniques to hold.
Rapids are rated on a scale of 1-6. Class 1: Moving water. Class 2: Splashy waves. Class 3: Easy maneuvering rapids, waves. Class 4: Intense rapids, technical maneuvering. Class 5: Long, powerful rapids with serious consequences. Class 6: NO GO! The Toby Creek is 50% class 2, and 25% class 1 and 3.
Our multi talented driver is also our photographer and takes digital photos of you at some of the best whitewater and scenic sections on the Toby Creek. You can view and purchase your Toby Creek rafting photos the following day on our website.
Many of our rafters are first timers. Our guides take time in the morning to acclimatize you so that you feel comfortable and confident in the raft.
Yes! Mountain goats, black bears, deer, moose, big horn sheep, and bald eagles are among many of the animals often spotted along the banks of the Toby Creek.
This is our 29th year of running white water rafting trips in the Rocky Mountains. Glacier was one of the first companies to raft the Toby Creek and the Kicking Horse River and the first company to run commercial trips on the lower canyon. Our trips are never rushed and we always take time to ensure your safety and enjoyment. We limit each boat to 9 customers allowing maximum comfort and personal attention from your guide. Trips are designed for you to have a memorable day out, appreciate our beautiful area and enjoy the entertainment provided by our guides. Our Toby Creek raft trips runs an extra 2km exclusive to Glacier Raft Adventures which boats a very fun finish to the trip.
We start rafting May long weekend and run trips everyday until Labour Day weekend in September!
